LOS ANGELES (AP) — Barking dogs can lead to a hefty fine in Los Angeles.
The City Council on Tuesday approved an ordinance that fines owners of excessively barking dogs $250 for a first offense, $500 for a second and $1,000 for a third if a Department of Animal Services hearing officer decides the pooch is barking too much.
City prosecutor Dov Lesel tells the Los Angeles Times that a dog’s barking would be considered excessive if it continued for 10 minutes or more, or intermittently for a half-hour or more within a three-hour period.
The ordinance is expected to get Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa’s signature. It would go into effect before the end of the year.

could have used that law here awhile back with neighbors who let their dog bark forever, then I found out they deaf………my bad… ( ;

Poor dogs, my husband says that people need to get over it, that’s what dogs do-they bark. What about if people talk too much?
10 minutes, and they call that excessive? I can see if the dog barked all during the day, or barked continuously through the night, if they do that, it’s not because they just bark, it’s probably because something is WRONG.

exactly.. I have a corgi that likes to sit on the windowsill and bark at kids as they leave school. We live across the street of a school, so 3 pm is a pretty noisy time in my house

Husky’s don’t bark they howl…just say your dog is a husky mix and try to beat it in court.

I LOVE DOGS. HAVE 4 OF MY OWN. LOVE THEM TO DEATH. BUT WHEN MY DOGS KEEP BARKING I FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM. I DON’T JUST ALLOW THEM TO CONTINUOUSLY BARK. IT GETS ANNOYING, NOT ONLY FOR ME BUT I’M SURE NEIGHBORS AS WELL. I HATE WHEN PEOPLE ALLOW THEIR DOGS TO JUST BARK BARK BARK. YES THATS WHAT THEY DO, BUT COME ON HAVE SOME RESPECT. WHEN ITS JUST EXCESSIVE ITS JUST TO MUCHHHHH!!
