Suspect Arrested In 2009 Modesto Homicide

MODESTO (CBS13) -- A suspect in a Modesto murder that occurred nearly two years ago turned himself in to police last week, the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department announced on Thursday.

Mark Burgess of Merced turned himself in to the Merced Police Department on Friday regarding the 2009 homicide of Harinder Sanghera, 28, of Ceres.

Sanghera was shot and killed on Dec. 4, 2009, during an attempted robbery of the Gas N Shop convenience store at 837 S. 9th Street in Modesto.

As detectives continued to work on the investigation over the weekend after the arrest of Burgess, they developed information on a second suspect, identified as 22-year-old Ernesto Morales Jr. of Merced. Morales is still at large.
