Woodland Quarterback Jones Selected Athlete Of The Week

WOODLAND (CBS13) -- A inner-city rivalry and the last high school game of his career has Woodland High's School's Dalen Jones fired up.

"Having the last game on the field is gonna be something to remember," the High School Kickback Athlete of the Week tells CBS13 of Friday's game against Pioneer. "Win or lose, we went out like champions."

Jones is the Wolves' quarterback and captain. He has been playing since he was 8 years old. Playing high school football is just one step closer to his ultimate dream.

"I wanna play in the NFL," he says.

For now, Jones works hard on the field and off. It's for his family, he says.

"I do it for my brothers," he says. "They drive me every day. They look up to their older brother. I want to be a leader to them."

He leads by example.

"I'm gonna go home before I go out with friends and do homework," he says. "Education is first no matter what."

Dalen is still deciding where he'll end up next season, but he's looking forward to the college experience.
