FOLSOM (CBS13) –Metro and Folsom City fire fighters rescued a woman after a collision with a large deer sent her vehicle careening off Highway 50 and 40 feet down an embankment this morning near Folsom.

The accident happened on eastbound Highway 50 near Prairie City Road around 7:00am this morning.

When fire fighters arrived, they found the car down the embankment and nestled in a ravine full of blackberry bushes.  An injured woman was still inside the car.

Fire fighters used ropes and other rescue equipment to hoist the woman to safety.  She was taken to the hospital with moderate injuries.

Witnesses say a large deer jumped onto the highway and actually hit the car.

The victim's name was not released.  It's unclear what happened to the deer.
