The Grant Napear Show - November 23, 2011

Chris Landry of Fox Sports Radio led off a full slate of guests on the day before Thanksgiving. Landry talked about the Thanksgiving Day NFL matchups, lining out Detroit's chances of stopping Aaron Rodgers and the Packers, whether the Dolphins can continue their roll in Dallas, and the injustice of sending the 49ers to the East Coast for a Thursday night game.  Chris also gave his thoughts on the Bears and Raiders and how Caleb Hanie will be able to fill in for Jay Cutler.  He's also impressed with the play of Denver's defense.  Chris closed things out by forecasting how the BCS standings will play out as the year winds down.

Then Steve Sands of the Golf Channel discussed Tiger Woods' play in the Presidents' Cup, how it led to a victory for the Americans, and whether it's any indication of a return to greatness for Tiger.  Steve also talked about his favorite cities to visit while on the PGA beat.

After a special rant that featured a mashup of some of Grant's best moments this year, quarterback of the Raiders Carson Palmer updated his progress in getting back to NFL speed.  With solid performances the last few weeks, Palmer appears to have turned the corner - despite still not having seen Darren McFadden play live due to injuries.  Carson weighed in on what they expect from the Bears, saying that stats and rankings don't matter when you see Brian Urlacher and Lance Briggs on film.

Charles Davis did his best to predict how the BCS standings and Heisman Trophy voting will shake out as the year finishes after a weekend of total chaos in both departments.  Charles thinks that Robert Griffin III of Baylor is making a solid dark-horse push for the Heisman.  Grant and Charles also discussed Grant's trip to Disneyland and the communication shortcomings of a giant, fluffy, silent animal.

Leading off the the fourth hour, Solomon Wilcots said Matt Leinart is running out of chances in the NFL and running this Texans offense in place of an injured Matt Schaub might tell us all we need to know about the former USC quarterback.  Solomon likes the speed at which Carson Palmer has re-adjusted to the NFL, but lamented the Raiders' inability to avoid stupid penalties.  He said the franchise has historically been able to overcome "tone-setting" penalties by having superior talent but that that style is no longer possible in the NFL.  Grant and Solomon also talked about John Elway's comments about Tim Tebow and what they really mean.

That was followed up by two final interviews in the next-to-last segment. Head Coach of Sacramento State Men's Basketball Brian Katz talked about the difficulty of winning on the road at the NCAA level after a come-from-behind victory on the road at UC Davis.  Coach Katz is proud of his graduation rates and with the progress of the program in his 4th year.

Then, Dave Taylor of thebasketballacademy.com talked about the upcoming 2011 Sacramento Kings 1 Day Basketball Clinic on November 29th at Power Balance Pavilion.
