Heavy Fog May Be To Blame For Slew Of Accidents On Area Highways

MODESTO (CBS13) - Heavy fog may have contributed to a series of accidents on area roadways including an overturned big rig in Modesto.

The driver of the tanker truck was on Sisk Road and Earl just off Highway 99 when the truck overturned.

The tanker was loaded with salt water which is leaking.

The driver was able to climb out of the wreckage and was not seriously hurt.

Crews are trying to stop the leak and upright the rig which is not blocking traffic.

Also, several vehicles were involved in an accident just before 7:00 a.m. on westbound Interstate 80 at the Madison Avenue onramp.

Early reports to CHP say six vehicles are involved. Injuries are reported.

CHP also responded to two accidents where driver apparently hit light poles.

One accident happened on Highway 65 at Sunset Boulevard in the Rocklin area.

Another accident involving a pole is being reported at Winona Way and Watt Avenue.
