Forgotten Backpack At Burglary Scene Leads Police To Suspect

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - A suspected burglar was caught today after he left his backpack at the scene of the crime.

Police arrested Steven Trotter, 27, after they found his backpack at the scene of a burglary early this morning in the 3500 block of Auburn Boulevard, say police.

The backpack lead investigators to Trotter's home where they arrested Trotter and also reportedly found tools that could be used for stripping copper wire.

Police ask citizens to watch for suspicious activity near street lights and intersections. If someone is doing work on the lights and there is not a city vehicle nearby, safely get as much information about the suspect(s) as possible and alert police.
