South Sacramento Man Pleads No Contest To Killing Wife

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) -- A south Sacramento man pleaded no contest Wednesday to second-degree murder in the stabbing death of his wife nearly a year ago, according to the Sacramento County District Attorney's office.

Sy Cho Saeturn, then 65, stabbed his 60-year-old wife to death inside their home in the 8000 block of Pinot Noir Drive on the morning of Dec. 8.

Their adopted 10-year-old daughter reportedly heard the two arguing and jumped and called 911, then jumped out her bedroom window and ran to a neighbor's house. Sheriff's deputies arrived to find Saeteurn still inside the house and his slain wife on the floor. They used a Taser on him and then overpowered him.

The court found Saeteurn not guilty of child endangerment by reason of insanity. The court will recommend that Saeteurn first be committed to the Department of Mental Health for treatment, after which he will be sent to state prison to serve his sentence.

Sentencing is scheduled for Dec. 28. Saeteurn faces a term of 16 years to life.
