Man's Body Found In Turlock Chicken Coop

TURLOCK (CBS13) -- A disturbing discovery was made inside a chicken coop in Turlock on Monday when a worker was found dead.

The grisly discovery was made at Rainbow Farms located at 3600 Linwood Avenue. A co-worker of the victim reportedly found the body.

Deputies are calling the death suspicious and say the man's death was caused by blunt force trauma. But they stopped short of identifying the murder weapon.

"At this point, we're looking at this as a death investigation. Way too early to give too a whole lot of details," said Sgt. Anthony Bejaran of the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Dept. "We do have a traumatic injury, but at this point, we're withholding what the object was."

Despite obvious trauma, deputies say the man was not shot.

The death has nearby residents on edge.

"I heard all these sirens, and it was just kind of scary," said a neighbor. "I'm hoping that it's not a murder – and especially in my neighborhood."

"I'm hoping that it's an accident, actually…hopefully," said Mike Brady, a neighbor. "I would definitely hope they would catch the person responsible if somebody did it."

The CEO of Rainbow Farms refused to comment on the incident.

Authorities have not released the man's identity, age or cause of death.
