Kings Unveil New Jersey As Season Preps Ramp Up

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – As the delayed and trimmed-down NBA season gears up for tip-off later this month, Kings officials and arena task force members are releasing new details into developments for fans and city leaders.

Members of the Arena Task Force said Wednesday that plans to pay for a new arena for the Kings are moving in the right direction, saying that there is momentum in a proposal to turn over public parking to private companies who can pay money up front.

"It looks like those numbers are coming in right where we'd thought they'd be," said task force spokesperson Jeremiah Jackson. "We've been hearing kind of $200 to $250 million dollars that we think is available, potentially, through a private parking operator lease."

The task force plans to release more details on Thursday.

The Sacramento Kings front office is fielding a nonstop stream of phone calls for seating requests for the shortened season, and said they plan to unveil the Kings' new all-black jerseys for the opening games.

"That's going to be our 'blackout' home opener, when each fan will receive a new T-shirt to commemorate the new jersey," said public relations manager Chris Clark.

The black design calls back to the jerseys in the Kings' glory days, when stars like Doug Christie, Bobby Jackson and Chris Webber hit the court, he added.

The Sacramento Kings' first preseason game at home takes place against Golden State on December 20, and the first regular season game will be against the Lakers on December 26.
