Feds Seize Santas Over Potential Shock Hazards

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Santa Claus won't be coming to Southern California.

At least not the Chinese-made light-up version.

Customs agents say they seized 151 life-size Santa light figurines last month at the Los Angeles and Long Beach port complex because their UL certifications were phony. They also confiscated a snowman and a polar bear.

Authorities say the phony labeling means the Chinese figurines might not meet U.S. electrical safety standards.

Officials said Monday the figurines had an estimated value of $110,000.
