PIONEER, Calif. (CBS13) – A woman is recovering in the hospital after being wounded in the neck in a Saturday night double-shooting by her father, who died during the incident, authorities said.

The Amador County Sheriff's Department said the 54-year-old victim called deputies after her 74-year-old father, identified as William David Matz, fired several shots at her during an argument over his alcohol consumption.

After shooting his daughter in the neck, Matz shot himself in the head, authorities said. Deputies found him dead in the kitchen.

The victim was rushed by helicopter to Mercy San Juan Hospital in Sacramento for treatment and is expected to survive.

The circumstances surrounding the incident are still under investigation.
