CDCR Searching For Juvenile Offender Driven Away From Amador County Work Site

SUTTER CREEK (CBS13) – A 19-year-old man was driven away from a roadside community cleanup project in Sutter Creek by accomplices Tuesday morning, according to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR).

Angel Iniquez was driven away from a roadside cleanup project at about 10:55 a.m. by two Hispanic men in a white, compact car as CDCR officers were distracted by another crew member who needed medical attention after cutting his leg with a chainsaw.

The remaining 13 members of the crew were returned to the Pine Grove Conservation Camp, and all law enforcement agencies were alerted to Iniquez's disappearance. CDCR also has dispatched fugitive apprehension teams from its Office of Correctional Safety to bring Iniquez back into custody.

Iniquez is described as 5 feet, 9 inches tall, 166 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair. He was committed to CDCR's Division of Juvenile Justice from Monterey County on March 16 and has been assigned to the Pine Grove Conservation Camp since May 3. He was scheduled to be released when he turned 25.

According to a CDCR press release, it has been about seven years since a juvenile offender has attempted to escape from the Pine Grove Conservation Camp, despite the fact that the youth conduct 15-20 community service projects a week in Amador County and the surrounding region, in addition to supporting wild land fire crews throughout the state.

Anyone with information about Iniquez's whereabouts is asked to contact Pine Grove Conservation Camp Assistant Superintendent Harry Linden at (209) 296-7581.
