Cat Rescued From Vehicle Engine In Carmichael

CARMICHAEL (CBS13) - A vehicle in Carmichael won't purr like it used to, that is, after a cat was removed from the engine compartment Monday.

When the vehicle's owner started the engine this morning, he said he heard a strange noise coming from inside the engine compartment, according to Sacramento Metropolitan Fire Assistant Chief Scott Cockrum. He opened the hood and found a cat entangled in the belts of the motor.

The man called 9-1-1, and when firefighters arrived, they had to cut the engine belts to get the cat out.

Firefighters took the badly injured feline to the Sacramento Cat Hospital where it received a life-saving operation.

If the surgery is successful, the cat, now known as Blaze, will be ready for adoption in about two weeks.
