Man Arrested For Security Scuffle At Sacramento International

SACRAMENTO (CBS13/AP) - Sheriff's deputies used a stun gun on a traveler at Sacramento International Airport after he refused to subject his bags to an x-ray screening and allegedly tried to run through the airport screening area.

Edwin Barton, 26, from New Hampshire was in the baggage claim area of Terminal B at around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday when, he says, he realized left something on the plane, according to Sacramento County Sheriff's Department Deputy Jason Ramos. He was told to get a pass from the airline to get back to the gate, which he did, but when he got to security, was told his bags would have to be re-screened. The man allegedly refused to have his bag scanned and tried to run past the checkpoint twice.

Barton got into an altercation with a TSA official and apparently resisted arrest and had to be subdued using a stun gun three times. He was taken to the hospital as a precaution. He was arrested on misdemeanor charges of obstructing a peace officer and unlawfully accessing the secure area of an airport.

Officials say there was nothing in Barton's bag that would have kept him from passing through security.

None of his belongings were turned in to the airport lost and found.
