Police: Drunk Mom Leaves Kids Outside In The Cold

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Sacramento Police have arrested a woman they say was intoxicated and left her two young children outside shivering in the cold night air.

Officers were called to Bercut Drive near Richards Boulevard just before midnight on Sunday to find two children, ages 9 and 4, huddling in the bushes to stay warm.

Police say the temperature was 44 degrees at the time.
The officer put the children in his car.

They told him their mother left them while she went to McDonalds.

The officer waited with the children for more than 15 minutes until their mother, 39-year-old Farris Martin, returned.

According to the officer, Martin was intoxicated.

She was arrested on a felony charge of endangering the life or health of a child. She is being held on $60,000 bail.

The children were released to another family member and Child Protective Services was notified.
