Police Eye Serial Killer Suspect In Unsolved Case

HEALDSBURG, Calif. (AP) — Police are looking at serial killing suspect Joseph Naso in connection with a decades-old unsolved Northern California homicide after testimony in his ongoing murder case revealed a possible connection.

Healdsburg police Chief Kevin Burke tells The Santa Rosa Press Democrat the department is checking DNA from the case of a woman killed in the early 1980s with a sample from the 78-year-old former photographer.

Burke declined to offer any more details about the case.

Naso is currently charged with the murders of four northern California women in the 1970s and 1990s, though investigators think he may be responsible for other unsolved slayings.

During testimony in Naso's preliminary hearing, investigators said they found a list in Naso's bedroom describing 10 women, which included a line that read "Girl near Healdsburg."
