KISS Robber Leaves Mask Behind In Failed Holdup

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — The man dubbed the KISS robber because of his choice of masks struck again over the weekend, but this time he left his disguise behind, according to Sacramento police.

The man entered a small neighborhood market in the 4000 block of 12th Avenue in the Oak Park neighborhood armed with a gun and wearing his signature mask. He pointed the gun at the store owner's grandfather.

However, the victim, who is in his early 70s, tried to grab the gun from the suspect and a struggle ensued, police said.

The suspect was pushed out the door by the elderly man and during the altercation his Evil Clown mask was pulled off as he fled the store. He was chased by a witness and was seen getting into a light blue sedan, police said.

The suspect was described as a male Hispanic. He's also suspected of robbery two stores on Jan. 19, one on Norwood Avenue and another on Del Paso Boulevard. He fired shots inside both stores before taking off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The Sacramento Police Department asks anyone with information on the suspect to call Crime Alert at (916) 443-HELP (4357) or text in a tip to 274637 (CRIMES). Enter SACTIP followed by the tip information. Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
