MODESTO (CBS13) — A house that has been vacant for several years in Modesto caught on fire on Thursday, and neighbors say squatters are to blame.
Neighbors tell CBS13 that the house on Connie Way has been vacant for at least eight years and has been the source of problems because squatters have been staying there.
“We heard a lot of yelling and fighting and saying this is going to go up in flames,” neighbor Jessica Willey said. “Today they said ‘we’re torching it,’ and they torched it.”
Investigators say it’s too early to say if a crime was committed.
