The first draft of the California Citizens Redistricting Commission’s Congressional District map. (California Citizens Redistricting Commission)
SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — The California Supreme Court is upholding new state Senate maps drawn by an independent redistricting commission, dealing a blow to GOP efforts seeking to block Democrats from gaining enough seats to pass taxes on their own.
The high court on Friday announced that the Senate maps drawn last year by the citizens commission should be used in the June primary and November general election, even though an initiative challenging the map is expected to qualify for the ballot.
Republicans are seeking an initiative to overturn the new boundaries and wanted the new maps tossed out until voters decide the issue. The court first had to find whether it even had the authority to act because the GOP initiative has yet to qualify.

Independent commissions are usually not.independent. The democrats have been running California for too long, they have sucked everything good out of the economy and there is little left. People and businesses are leaving and the state is full of entitlement people, A once great state is nearly bankrupt and the people that remain see no problem with, the cites, crime, the schools, and especially the state government and it constant application of new rules, taxes, fees, and regulations that are killing the remaining businesses

Republicans crying over spilled milk. The voters of California approved a measure to allow a non-partisan committee to draw up the boundaries. The committee was made up of equal numbers of California citizens registered as democrats, republicans, and independents. This yet ANOTHER example of Republicans crying when things don’t go their way. I thought Republicans are always saying to let the will of the voters stand. I guess that doesn’t apply when things don’t go their way.

As a taxpayer this is just another sign that it is time to leave CA in the dust. I was born and raised in CA but this is not the CA I loved. IT is now a cesspool of liberals who have run businesses out of the state and have raised taxes at every turn to fund an overly generous welfare state and over paid teachers and administrators in our failing public school systems. It is a dung heap. What the liberals will do when there are only welfare recipients and illegals in the state to fund the entitlements is a mystery to me. But thankfully I will be long gone. I bid Goodbye to a once great state.

You are a moron. Your boys Steinberg and Perez are using taxpayer dollars to sue the controller for back pay because he didn’t pay them when they put forth an illegal budget, as a resul of a law passed by the voters. You probably don’t mind, because I’m guessing you are on the dole and don’t pay any taxes, but those of us that still bother to work and try to make something of ourselves are rather upset at their unbridled arrogance. Quit whining about a group seeking fairness and adherence to the rule of law,
