STOCKTON (CBS13) — A man was found shot outside a Payless Shoe Store in Stockton on Friday morning and was pronounced dead shortly thereafter at a local hospital, police said.

The incident happened at 434 E. Charter Way. A Payless employee told CBS13 that he arrived at the store at about 9:30 a.m. and saw a man laying on the ground in the parking lot but didn’t know at that point if the man was dead or alive.

Stockton Police Department spokesman Officer Pete Smith confirmed that a man had been shot and later died. Th man’s identity wasn’t released.

A parent of a student at nearby Edison High School said her daughter told her the school was on lockdown but that hadn’t been confirmed.

The shoe store parking lot remained blocked off as of about 11 a.m. as police investigated.

No suspect has been identified.

Stockton set a record last year for homicides with 56.

  1. I was featured a couple of weeks ago in a piece about luxury real estate sales in Granite Bay-- you did a live feed from the home in Wexford. I never saw it, and have been asked to provide a copy for my client. Can you help me with a link? By the way, I loved doing the spot! It was FUN, and I appreciated your coverage. 2. The other night I thought I saw a AT&T ad that said "Upgrade to U-Verse 300 free for 90 days. I need to know if that is really true??
  3. Dear SAC, Why aren't adults under 26 covered by ChampVA?
  4. February 11th, 2011 I bought tickets to Las Vegas for August 11th - August 15th, 2011. On February 23rd, 2011 at 2PM I called customer service to ask about cancellation but NEVER asked to cancel. The woman on the other line was having a bad day and gave the attitude the ENTIRE time. So I hung up on her. August 11th came rolling around and Southwest says my flight has been cancelled although I still had some "credits" I can use to get a flight to Vegas. So instead of going through the crazy hassle, I used the credit to get a flight to Vegas but had to drive back home. (Although I did sit in-front of the line arguing with the flight attendant for an hour.) I called Southwest back February 17th, 2012 to ask about my credits. Debbie of Southwest said that my remaining "credits" expired February 12th. She then said, "There is nothing showing that your cancelled flight on February 23rd was sent out a confirmation email which is whats supposed to happen every time you cancel?" I asked, "Is it possible that your customer service worker could have just cancelled it without confirming with me?" The customer relations person said "Sorry we can't do anything about it now." So after being tired of trying to argue WHY they should compensate my loss after almost a year she continued to say that there was nothing Southwest can do about someone cancelling my flight without any confirmation being sent out. My question is, HOW CAN I GET THIS ISSUE RESOLVED? THANKS.
