Two Men Arrested For Allegedly Stealing Copper Wire In Natomas

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - Two men have been arrested for allegedly stealing copper from a Natomas neighborhood.

Just after midnight, officers pulled up to a U-Haul truck parked on Natomas Central Drive near El Centro Road.

When officers approached the truck, a man took off running and hid in a field before he was tracked down and arrested.

A second suspect was arrested later at his home shortly before 4:30 a.m.

The men were allegedly stripping copper wire from utility boxes along the street. Officers found 300 feet of stripped wire in the truck.

It could cost $2,000 for the city to replace.

Officers say one of the men arrested has a history of copper theft.
