UPDATE: Roseville Wells Fargo Bank Robbery Suspect Arrested

ROSEVILLE (CBS13) — A man wearing a black wig robbed the Wells Fargo Banko in Roseville on Tuesday morning and a Wells Fargo branch in Amador County was robbed that afternoon, but investigators don't believe the two are related.

A man walked in to the Wells Fargo at 8580 Sierra College Blvd. in Roseville at about 10:10 a.m., handed a teller a note demanding money, and then left on foot after receiving an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police searched the area and placed a nearby school on lockdown as officers canvassed the area, but the suspect was not immediately located. However, investigators arrested a suspect in Folsom at about 6 p.m.. Ogan Gencer, 20, of Roseville was taken into custody and was to be booked into the Placer County Jail on suspicion of robbery.

The man is described by police as being white, in his 20s, about 5 feet, 5 inches tall, wearing black and carrying a green backpack. He indicated he had a weapon but didn't show it. No one was injured.

Meanwhile, at about 1:20 p.m., the Amador County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call from a teller at the Wells Fargo Bank, 9454 Main Street, in Plymouth. The caller reported that two male suspects wearing dark wigs, dark color jackets and blue denim pants had just robbed the bank and fled on foot.

According to investigators, the first suspect brandished a handgun, announced the robbery, entered the bank vault and took an undisclosed amount of large bills. The second suspect, who was also armed with a handgun, ordered tellers to provide bills from the cash drawers.

A customer entered the bank during the robbery. At that point, the employees and the customer were ordered into the bank vault and told not to exit the vault for five minutes. The two suspects then fled on foot in an unknown direction.

Deputies responded and were on scene within minutes. A California Highway Patrol aircraft also responded and assisted by conducting an area check, but the suspects remain at large.

The suspects were captured on surveillance footage.
