LODI (CBS13) – A 20-year-old man was fatally shot on the street in Lodi on Thursday morning, according to police.

An officer on patrol heard gunshots just after 8 a.m. in the area of Central and Lodi avenues. The officer then saw a male suspect running from the location. He chased the suspect, a 16-year-old, on foot and apprehended him a few blocks away.

The victim was found laying in the street on Central Avenue suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported by ambulance to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead. The victim’s name is being withheld pending further investigation.
