AUBURN (CBS13) — A former high school teacher and coach has been arrested on suspicion of child sex abuse, according to the Placer County Sheriff’s Office.

Belden Morgan, 70, of Auburn was taken into custody Thursday night on charges of continual sexual abuse of a child. He is being held at the Placer County Jail on $1.5 million bail.

According to a press release, the Sheriff’s Office was made aware of the alleged abuse that happened several years ago and conducted an investigation, resulting in Morgan’s arrest. The investigation is ongoing.

The Placer County Unified School District said Morgan was a computer tech teacher at Colfax High School from December 1998 to June 2003. He then became a snowboard coach in 2003 until March 2011.

The district says it has no knowledge if his alleged victim or victims were his students.

What the heck is going on in our schools??? Actually, I think it has been happening for many many years. It’s just long ago it was kept quiet… Filthy dirty people preying on children. I am glad the kids today are able to speak up and say what is really going on…… These people (not only Teachers) need to be castrated and have their hands cut off!!!

i saw a list once of all the teachers transferred or dismissed from school districts in Califonria it was very long list, and this was back in the early 1990s.
I was stunned when I saw it and wondered why it was all kept underwraps. Started homeschooling both my kids shortly thereafter. I know there is some wonderful people that love teaching kids how to read an grow up to be solid citizens but 10% really have no intentions, have no gift to teach and they have to be removed promptly.

If he turns out to be innocent, you people just helped ruin what’s left of his life….
