COBB (AP) — A small earthquake has shaken a rural area of Northern California about 90 miles north of San Francisco, but there are no reports of any damages or injuries.

The U.S. Geological Survey says the magnitude-4.4 quake struck shortly before 9 p.m. Sunday near the town of Cobb and the Geysers, a complex of geothermal power plants in the Mayacamas Mountains.

Hundreds of people have reported feeling the quake on the USGS website, most in nearby Healdsburg and Calistoga but some as far away as San Francisco.

The area, where seismic activity is common, has been struck several times by small quakes in recent months.

Sheriff’s dispatchers from the surrounding counties say they have received no calls about damages or injuries.

Ugh. Constantly an earthquake happening somewhere in the state. This isn’t something new. Plate tectonics… look them up. Love the scare attempts every time California has a tickle in its throat.

That place gets hundreds every year from 1.0s to 4.0s that isn’t anything spectacular. If you check this site:

you will find its not ususual just unusual they actually made it a news item. Must be a slow news day.

Geothermal energy is being created by pumping in water…….earthquakes.

The Geyers are fumaroles “disovered” in 1847 I am sure they have been there for centures just because nobody saw them doesn’t mean they didn’t exist!. They are what they are and they will continue long after we are gone. We are drawing energy from them just like the people in Iceland do its clean, efficient and cheaper than oil.
