2,500 Marijuana Plants Seized From Plumas Lake Homes

PLUMAS LAKE (CBS13) - Yuba County Sheriff's Department deputies seized about 1,500 marijuana plants after serving search warrants in a Yuba County suburb on Thursday morning.

The Yuba County Sheriff's Department's Marijuana Eradication Team (METYU), with the assistance of NET-5 and the Yuba County SWAT team, served warrants at three locations in Plumas Lake, between Marysville and Sacramento.

Two residents were arrested from one of the homes located in the 1600 block of Notting Hill Way. They were identified as Guo Xiong Li, 34, and Jian Xiong Liu, 44, both of Sacramento.

An estimated total of just under 1,000 plants were located inside the residence.

Deputies also served a warrant at a residence located in the 3500 block of Indian Clover Way. An estimated 1,000 plants were found inside that home. Shi Yuan Kuang, 50, of San Francisco was arrested.

The third location, in the 1200 block of Colorado Way, yielded about 500 plants. No arrests were made at that location.

Investigators are working to identify other people who may have participated with these illegal grows, according to Sheriff Steve Durfor. The three people that were arrested will be charged with cultivation of marijuana, possession of marijuana for sale and theft of utilities.

The estimated street value of the plants seized in the operation was $1.2 million.
