Modesto Police Arrest Bank Robbery Suspect
MODESTO (CBS13) — The suspect in a Modesto bank robbery earlier this month was arrested by police on Friday.
The Umpqua Bank at 2525 McHenry Ave. was robbed on Feb. 13 after the suspect entered the bank, handed the teller a note demanding money and then left with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Detectives began to follow up on investigative leads, which included tips from citizens. Through their investigation, they identified Dean Thomas Watson-Setliff, a 26-year-old Modesto resident, as the suspect. Detectives issued an arrest warrant for Watson-Setliff.
A Modesto detective saw Watson-Shetliff sitting in the passenger seat of a car on Friday at about 2 p.m.. Patrol officers stopped the car at Orangeburg Avenue and Rose Avenue and arrested Watson-Setliff.
Watson-Setliff was questioned and booked into the Stanislaus County Jail for bank robbery.
