Limbaugh Under Fire For Derogatory Comments Against Female Student

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - A comment controversy is once again swirling around conservation radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh - and now one of his longtime advertisers from his Sacramento days has pulled its support.

"It makes her a slut, right? It makes her a prostitute. She wants to be paid to have sex."

Those comments were directed as Sandra Fluke, the Georgetown University law student who entered the national spotlight two weeks ago when she testified in front of a House committee on the need for contraception to be covered by health care.

While that stirred up some, Limbaugh expanded on his original comments Thursday, saying, "So Miss Fluke and the rest of you feminazis, here's the deal. If we are going to pay for your contraceptives and thus pay for you to have sex, we want something. We want you to post the videos online so we can all watch."

"I think he was confused about what my testimony said," Fluke said. "For starters, I didn't say that I should be paid for anything. What we were talking about was private insurance covering a medical need. It has nothing to do with the government paying for anything or taxpayers or anyone like that."

Limbaugh's comments have caused a frenzy online, with people demanding businesses pull their advertising on his show.

Democrats also seized the opportunity, calling the Republican opposition to free contraception a war on women.

"I rise this morning to say to you Rush Limbaugh, shame on you, shame on you for being the hatemonger that you are, shame on you for being misogynistic, shame on you for calling the women of this country sluts and prostitutes," Congresswoman Jackie Speir (D-San Francisco) said in a House address.

Sleep Train pulled its sponsorship of Limbaugh's show, issuing this statement:

"As a diverse company, Sleep Train does not condone such negative comments directed toward any person. We have currently pulled our ads with Rush Limbaugh."

Sleep Train started advertising on Limbaugh's show long before Limbaugh went national, reportedly when he bought a bed there.
