Smoke, Rain, Hail Blamed For Multiple Vehicle Crash On Highway 49

AMADOR COUNTY (CBS13) – Smoke from a fire at a fast food restaurant combined with rain, hail and fog are being blamed for a multiple vehicle accident on Highway 49 in the town of Martell near Jackson.

The accident happened just after a fire broke at a Jack and the Box on the corner of Highway 49 and Industry Drive around 6:30 Tuesday morning.

Weather in the area was already dicey with rain and hail when smoke from the fire drifted into the intersection reducing visibility even further, according to CHP.

Highway 49 was shutdown for a period of time as crews cleared the roadway.

There were no reports of injuries.
