The Don Geronimo Show - March 6, 2012

Today, the AC is till not fixed, Don's headphone jack is jacked, and the mixer for the replay machines is messed up. But the guys, professionals that they are, trudge on and make the best of it. Today is the big Sacramento City Council vote on the arena, and Dave is very nervous, even though it looks like there will be enough votes to pass it. Don wonders how Dave will handle himself tomorrow, depending upon the outcome. Don then plays a clip from the National Spelling Bee, in which a young man has to spell the word "Negus." We also hear a "Gay Picard" Star Trek clip, and a new East Coast Bob call.

Don is interested in how Homeless Henry is doing, and decides that he'll send Craig out tomorrow to check on him. The guys then get into a discussion about the Occupy Sac protesters, before making a big St. Patrick's Day announcement: We will be broadcasting live at the Boxing Donkey in Roseville that day! The guys also discuss the ongoing Rush Limbaugh backlash, and how he has not only lost 12 sponsors, but is also getting dropped by stations. Don wonders what this will do to the future of radio if Rush ends up losing his job.

We then get a visit from Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson. KJ talks about the vote this evening, tries to reassure Dave that the proposal will pass, and gives numerous reasons why a new arena in Sacramento will help the economy and benefit everybody! Don then pulls out his Danny O'Day ventriloquist doll, and the vinyl record that came with it as a tutorial for using the doll. The guys then try doing the vocal lessons on the record. After finding out that Paula Deen is being sued for sexual harassment and discrimination, and Tim Tebow wants to be on "The Bachelor," the guys talk about the passing of John Belushi 30 years ago yesterday, and we hear a clip of Dan Akroyd saying that he wrote "Ghostbusters" with Belushi and Eddie Murphy in mind.

It's then time for the "Phantom News Hour." Today, Phantom talks about the video game "Mass Effect 3" being released today, the new Vanity Fair has an interview with the cast of 'The Sopranos," and Adam Sandler is working on a new movie with Andy Samberg called "That's My Boy." And of course, Don wraps everything up with a caller 100!
