UPDATE: Video Released In Connection With Girl's Murder At Park

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies have released grainy surveillance video in the hopes of sparking new clues in the murder of a 13-year-old girl whose body was found more than a week ago in a Rosemont Park.

The video was captured by a camera mounted on a house about 150 yards away from Rosemont Community Park where the body of Jessica Funk-Haslam was found. Her body was discovered in the visitor's dugout at the baseball field the next morning, March 6.

In the video, a person in dark clothing can be seen running east on Rosemont Drive toward Mayhew, from the area of the park. When the person sees cars coming, they appear to attempt to hide. Once the cars pass, the figure runs down the street and out of camera range.

Detectives do not believe the person in the video is a suspect but would like to identify the person to determine if the individual has any knowledge of the circumstances surrounding the case.

With this surveillance video, which was recorded between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. on March 5, detectives have been able to narrow down the 12- to 13-hour window of when they believe Jessica was killed. They also hope it will jog the memories of motorists who were in the area at the time.

Detectives believe Jessica knew the person who took her life.

"We think she was there with, at least for some period of time, someone she knew or at least someone she was comfortable with," said Sacramento County Sheriff's Detective Tony Turnbull during a Thursday press conference updating the case.

Detectives say Jessica arrived at the park at about 6:30 p.m., and people at the park that day likely saw her but have been too afraid to come forward.

"Those people that walked into the park during those hours know who they are. We just want to talk to them as witnesses. They're not suspects," said Turnbull.

Investigators also have surveillance video from Albert Einstein Middle School that shows teens walking toward the park at the same time Jessica was there. They also want to talk to those teens.
