Steve Wyche Talks With Grant Napear About Peyton Manning's Future

Steve Wyche from NFL Network and nfl.com was on to talk about Peyton Manning. Steve said that his gut feeling was that the Manning sweepstakes is a two team race between Denver and Tennessee. He said Tennessee offers personal comfort for Manning, along with an elite running back in Chris Johnson. Denver offers the best opportunity as far as football goes. With the way the team adapted to Tebow last season, they'll probably give Manning a ton of control over the offense like he had in Indianapolis. The Broncos also have a good defense as they showed last season. Along with that, Denver and Tennessee are in the AFC, which has shown to be far less competitive than the NFC in recent years.

Next, Steve talked about Dallas and how their offseason has gone. He said that he likes how judicious Dallas has been in their signings. They filled a need signing defensive back Brandon Carr, and also brought in a capable backup in Kyle Orton to sit behind Tony Romo. Steve observed that the Cowboys were a good team and on a roll last season before their running back DeMarco Murray went down with an injury.

Steve also discussed Gregg Williams and the punishments coming from Roger Goodell for the bounty scandal involving Williams and the Saints. The rulings have not come down from the league yet, but Steve expects the punishments to come down soon. He talked about how those punishments will affect the St. Louis Rams for which Williams now works. Steve also discussed reasons the league is waiting to hand out the punishments.

NFL free agency was another topic of discussion for Steve, and he talked about which team has done the best so far. Steve said that he like what the 49ers have done so far, with the signings of Randy Moss and the resigning of defensive back Carlos Rogers. He also said that despite the criticism the San Diego Chargers have received, they've made some good moves. While they lost Vincent Jackson and Mike Tolbert, they were able to pick up linebacker Jarret Johnson, and wide receiver Eddie Royal.
Finally, Grant and Steve discussed injuries and how advancement in medicine are making big differences in recovery times from major injuries. He said that a big testament to major injury recovery will be Minnesota Vikings Running Back Adrian Peterson who tore multiple knee ligaments at the end of last season. Steve said that it'd be a huge testament to modern medicine if Peterson was game ready by the start of the 2012 NFL season.
