Stockton’s Brookside Christian Girls Win State Basketball Title

SACRAMENTO (CBS13/AP) — Tiara Tucker had 28 points to lead Brookside Christian of Stockton past Mission Prep of San Luis Obispo, 70-64, to win the California girls Division V championship Saturday at Power Balance Pavilion.

Ra’yra Gabriel added 16 for Brookside Christian (30-4) and Rauline Martinez had 12.

Bri Harvey led Mission Prep (32-2) with 22 points and nine rebounds, and Jenna Dunbar added 17 points. Connor Storlie was also in double figures with 11.

Brookside starts one sophomore (Tucker) and three freshmen, so the Knights are poised to be a lower-division power for the next several years.

Mission Prep has made seven appearances in the state title game without a win, the most by any school without a title.
