Save Mart To Stop Selling Ground Beef With Pink Slime Additive

MODESTO (CBS13) – Save Mart Supermarkets says it will no longer sell meats containing the food additive known as Pink Slime at any of its stores including Lucky and FoodMaxx.

The company, based in Modesto, says it will remove Lean Finely Trimmed Beef, coined Pink Slime, from its ground beef products over increasing customer concerns.

Until all their ground beef products can be made without LFTB, Save Mart says customers can buy ground beef from Organic Prairie, Harris Ranch or Laura's which do not contain LFTB.

Save Mart Supermarkets operates 230 stores in Northern California and Nevada under the Save Mart, S-Mart Foods, Lucky, Maxx Value Foods and FoodMaxx banners.
