Event Raises Money For Animal Welfare

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - Thousands of dollars were raised for animal welfare at an event that would be the fantasy for any savvy shopper. The super deals that were up for grabs helped raise money for the Sacramento Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

CBS13's Shannon Brinias emceed the fundraiser Thursday evening at the Arden Hills Resort Club and Spa. Several hundred people shopped for handbags at what was billed as "Purrses for Pets".

Donated purses were auctioned off to the highest bidders, while event-goers enjoyed catered food and delicious wines. The donations included couture pieces from the likes of Louis Vuitton and Donna Karan.

A diamond and gold bracelet provided by Birchfield Jewelers also was offered through a swag bag drawing.
