SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – A two-alarm fire burned at an apartment building in downtown Sacramento on Sunday.
The fire broke out at Park Place senior apartments on 12th and N Streets at around 1:20 p.m., say officials.
Firefighters who arrived first on the scene say flames could be seen coming from an apartment the 7th floor. The fire is believed to have started on the balcony of the 8th floor. It later collapsed.
Two people were treated for shortness of breath and smoke inhalation.
Most of the residents were on the first floor at the time having lunch.
Investigators have not said exactly what caused the fire, but said it could have been a cigarette.
