UC Davis Pepper Spray Report To Be Released Wednesday

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS13/AP) — The University of California is preparing to release a report on the pepper-spraying of student protesters by UC Davis police.

A judge on Tuesday approved a settlement requiring officials to remove the names of most police officers who were interviewed about or involved in the incident before making public the findings of a task force that looked into the Nov. 18 clash with "Occupy UC Davis" students protesting the rising costs of education.

The university system now plans to unveil the report with most officers' names redacted at noon Wednesday on the UC Davis website.

The task force, chaired by a former California Supreme Court justice, is scheduled to present the report at UC Davis later in the day.

The UC police officers' union had sued to keep the document under wraps, saying that naming officers could subject them to harassment. The police action sparked nationwide outrage and calls for UC Davis Chancellor Linda Katehi to resign.
