Search For Missing Morgan Hill Teen Moves To Waters

MORGAN HILL (CBS13) - For the moment, the search for Sierra LaMar is focused on five objects, found with sonar, at the bottom of the Chesbro Reservoir.

"They don't look natural to the bottom. So we want to go down and take a look at what they are," said Sgt. Don Ray, Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office.

The dive team isn't being specific about what it found, but it was careful not to say they were looking for a body. They dropped down 60 feet underwater, and ruled out at least one object.

"More or less, a large tree trunk that was at an odd angle. It didn't look like a tree trunk," said Ray.

It's the most dramatic move so far in the four week long intensive search for Sierra that has yielded only her cell phone and a bag of clothes.

Sierra's mother is grateful the search effort hasn't let up.

"They're not finding anything in the lake is giving me hope. But it's difficult knowing that they're doing it," said Marlene LaMar.

If the dive team finds nothing in the reservoir, they will move on to Uvas Reservoir, seven miles away near Morgan Hill.
