Vigil To Be Held In Modesto For Slain Sheriff's Deputy, Locksmith

MODESTO (CBS13) - A vigil will be held Thursday night n honor of a Stanislaus County sheriff's deputy and locksmith who were shot to death while trying to perform an eviction last week

Deputy Robert Paris and civilian Glendon Engert were shot and killed by Jim Ferrario on April 12 when they went to his northwest Modesto apartment in the 2100 block of Chrysler Drive to execute the eviction.

Ferrario later shot himself in the head and his body was recovered from the unit after it burned down overnight.

The vigil will be held at Graceada Park in Modesto at 7:30 p.m.

A memorial service for Paris will be held at noon Friday at the Big Valley Church in Modesto, followed by his burial.
