Along with watching the NBA and NHL playoffs this weekend, and of course, the first full week of Major League Baseball in May, take some time to catch Sacramento native Nick Watney on the PGA tour.
After missing the cut in New Orleans last week, Watney re-focused and in his words answered a wake-up call, shooting a 64 today at Quail Hollow to lead an impressive field after round two. Nick hasn’t exactly burned up the tour this year with no top 10 finishes in stroke play and had gone nine straight rounds without breaking 70.
He’s going to have to stay focused through the weekend to hold off the likes of Webb Simpson, Stewart Cink, John Senden and World number one Rory McIlroy. Incidentally, Sacramento’s Spencer Levin is 4 under, 8 strokes behind Watney heading into the weekend with plenty of golf to play.
You can watch the Well Fargo Championship this weekend on CBS13.
