NATOMAS (CBS13) – An apartment in a Natomas complex caught fire Thursday morning and a man who was badly burned later died from his injuries.
The three-alarm fire was at the Agio Apartments at 1571 Waterwheel Drive, which is east of Truxel in between Garden Highway and W. El Camino Avenue.
Unit 9 caught fire for an unknown reason and the man had to be taken to UC Davis Medical Center after suffering burns. He died at the hospital, according to a Sacramento City Fire official.
A small dog was rescued from the complex and resuscitated by a firefighter.
“It’s kind of cool. I don’t really like dogs, but I like this one,” Firefighter Ross Palmerton said after saving the dog.
The fire was reported at 10:15 a.m.
