Solano County Investigates Latest Vallejo Police Shooting

VALLEJO, Calif. (AP) — The Solano County District Attorney's Office is investigating the third fatal shooting by Vallejo police in five weeks.

Police shot and killed a robbery suspect on Saturday morning after they say he pointed a gun at officers in a residential neighborhood following a foot chase.

Police say the suspect, who has not been identified, robbed a convenience store earlier. He then allegedly escaped in a stolen Jeep before crashing into a fire hydrant a short distance away.

Police Lt. Jim O'Connell says officers discovered the suspect in a backyard and shot him multiple times after he pointed his handgun at them when ordered to drop the weapon.

The incident follows the fatal shooting of two men in separate incidents by Vallejo police in May.
