Authorities Think Intense San Francisco Fire Was Arson

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Authorities think an arsonist in San Francisco set off an intense fire that has burned several homes and displaced about 20 people.

Fire dispatcher Heather Grives says the blaze erupted shortly before 3 a.m. Tuesday and roared through several row houses.

It took about 100 firefighters nearly two hours to control the flames that damaged three to five homes. It's not clear how badly the houses were burned.

Grives says arson is suspected and police have detained a 61-year-old man for questioning.

No injuries have been reported.
