HUGHSON (CBS13) – Two people were found dead inside a Hughson home where a chase suspect was believed to be hiding from authorities.
Stanislaus County Sheriff’s deputies say the suspect was sitting in his pickup truck in east Oakdale on Wednesday when he made a call for help, saying he was going to commit suicide. Deputies finally caught up with the man while he was driving, and say he refused to pull over.
The man then drove to the Hughson home, got out of his truck and ran inside. A short time later, gunshots were heard coming from the home.
A standoff ensued that lasted a few hours. When deputies finally entered the home, they found two people lying dead. Although the identities of the bodies have not been released, deputies say they are no longer searching for the suspect.
Deputies believe the suspect chose the home at random.
