NORTH HIGHLANDS (CBS13) – Sacramento Sheriff’s deputies are looking for two masked suspects in a home invasion that left one woman hurt and her family shaken.
Deputies are at a home in the 6500 block of Thomas Drive in North Highlands near Watt Avenue and Elkhorn Boulevard investigating the incident.
It began around 6:00 a.m. when the woman was leaving her home and locking the front door when she was approached by the masked suspects, according to deputies.
Her husband woke up to her screams and came to help. The armed suspects forced the couple back into their home who then along with their child attempted to escape through the back door.
Deputies say when the couples’ dogs, Bull Mastiffs, went after the suspects, the suspects started shooting.
The woman was hit, either by a bullet or shrapnel, in the arm. She was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The suspects ran away on foot.
No other information was immediately available.
