Man Jumps Into Septic Tank To Hide From Stanislaus County Deputies

CERES (CBS13) – A Ceres man is undergoing a mental evaluation after running from deputies, jumping into a septic tank and refusing to come out, according to officials.

The Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department says deputies came across a man early Tuesday morning loitering in the middle of the street near Ansul Avenue and Hosner Avenue in Ceres.

When deputies tried to talk to the man, he ran away and jumped through a small hole in the top of an old septic tank.

Despite commands from the deputies, the man refused to come out of the tank.

After about 30 minutes, the suspect came out of the tank on his own.

Deputies are not sure why the man ran from them. After running a check, they found the man had no warrants and was not wanted for any crime.

He was taken to a nearby hospital for a mental evaluation.
