LINDEN (CBS13) – New revelations and a new letter from death row to CBS13 reveal more new clues in the Speed Freak Killings case.
Investigators now confirm they have the remains of a fetus among the dead.
Wesley Shermantine’s letter to CBS13′s Koula Gianulias warns he may not be so eager to help find more victims.
Forensic anthropologists are now confirming what Wesley Shermantine has said all along, there was a pregnant woman in a Linden well.
Nearly six months after removing more than a thousand bone fragments, experts are finally finding bones of a fetus up to 32 weeks old.
It’s a discovery Shermantine promised they’d find all along.
“Every time Steve Moore, the sheriff of San Joaquin, wants to make out Wesley a liar, it ends up wrong. Wesley is right once again,” said bounty hunter Leonard Padilla.
Padilla has been working with the serial killer for months and now he’s hunting not for fugitives but for more victims, including the mother of the fetus, who is described as a young woman with mixed ancestry, 16-18 years old, and 5’1″ to 5’4″ tall.
“We have about six or seven possibilities,” said Padilla.
CBS13 is also learning the remains of two victims already identified, Kimberly Billy and Joann Hobson, will be turned over to their families for a proper burial.
Shermantine was supposed to help lead to more victims but in a letter to CBS13, he writes, “I’m not moving from the prison and showing any more sites until Leonard mans up and does his part.”
The serial killer says Padilla still owes him thousands of dollars.
“I’m probably behind in my commitment, I admit that, and he has a right to be upset,” said Padilla.
However, Padilla is not concerned that will lead to a roadblock to getting Shermantine out to help find more victims’ remains.
“That means some law enforcement authority has to kiss my (expletive) to pay him the money,” said Padilla.
