UPDATE: Sheriff's Deputies Arrest Alleged Carmichael 'Boogie Man'

CARMICHAEL (CBS13) - An accused Carmichael creep is in jail, far away from the homes he's suspected of breaking into and allegedly preying on kids.

Investigators say surveillance cameras may give them the evidence they need to lock him up for a long time.

"For all intensive purposes, this is the Boogie Man. This is the guy that comes in the middle of the night," said Deputy Jason Ramos of the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department.

A predator who allegedly broken into at least three homes in the dead of night and looking for children, confronted two and sexually assaulting one.

Sacramento County deputies say they've locked 18-year-old Matthew Jones.

It was Saturday night that Erik Altunez de Mayolo says he discovered, possibly, the same suspect inside his home near his grandkids' room, but they were out of town.

Mayolo grabbed the man, pushed him out and called 911.

He had no clue what the same man may have been up to until he learned of the other incidents.

"Obviously he was somewhere near the kids' rooms. I think he was somewhat startled," said Mayolo.

While deputies have not released where they located Jones, neighbors reported seeing deputies at a group home around the same time of the arrest and sheriff's detectives were caught on CBS13 cameras leaving.

The home is just two blocks away.

No one answered the door, but neighbors say the home is known to the neighborhood.

"That it was somehow related to some kind of sexual offenses," said neighbor Jeannine Carter.

Mayolo's wife, learning of the arrest, is thankful they can breathe easier.

"It's good news that it's over," said Kaye Altunez de Mayolo.

Jones is being held on $300,000 bail.
