UPDATE: Suicide Note Found With Dead Stockton Standoff Suspect

STOCKTON (CBS13) - A standoff in Stockton ended after a San Joaquin County Sheriff's robot found suspect David Earl Barnett, 46, dead inside a home with what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Investigators say a suicide note was also discovered in the home.

A police SWAT team was called into a north Stockton neighborhood after a suspect reportedly exchanged shots with a San Joaquin County sheriff's deputy Thursday afternoon.

The incident took place at a home in the 2300 block of Golden Bear Circle, off of Waudman Avenue. Police say the suspect barricaded himself inside the home.

The situation began about 1:30 p.m. when a deputy on the auto theft task force attempted to pull over a reported stolen vehicle and the driver wouldn't stop.
